Obedience

Happy May my friends!

I don’t know if it is spring fever or something else stirring inside of me, but I am finding myself unmotivated in continuing my normal day to day, 9-5, routines and to-do lists. I am desiring something more, something that fills me with joy and energy. I am in a waiting period though. Sometimes feelings like these come and go, and I want my next steps to be in line with God’s will for my life. I will continue spending my time in His word and prayer to strengthen my relationship with Him.

The past few weeks I have spent in Deuteronomy, and obedience is the theme that has really permeated for me. It is clear - obedience leads to blessings, disobedience leads to being cursed. Deuteronomy 17 speaks to even the king reading the body of instructions on a daily basis.

17:18-19 - "When he sits on the throne as king, he must copy for himself this body of instructions on a scroll in the presence of the Levitical priests. He must always keep that copy with him and read it daily as long as he lives. That way he will learn to fear the Lord his God by obeying all the terms of these instructions and decrees.

17:20 - This regular reading will prevent him from becoming proud and acting as if he is above his fellow citizens. It will also prevent him from turning away from these commands in the smallest way.”

After reading these passages I started reading in Psalms. How fitting was it that Psalms 1:2 reads “But they delight in the law of the Lord, meditating on it day and night.”

It is so important and imperative that we make our daily walk focused on God and His will for our life, not just our Sunday mornings.
